Steven Clay Walker
I love colour. I truly appreciate black and white an the romanticism of it, but there's something about colour that lightens people's eyes- the beauty within that itself :)
My main media are pastel soft/hard, charcoal, chalk, leads, acrylics and leads. I always use canvas or a good quality acid free paper to draw or paint on. I use certain styles with different media. Sometimes I smudge using fingertip mainly to blend. Different styles with different moods at the time.
I enjoy using watercolour pencils but without the water. It gives it a bolder effect and it does some mad blending. My sculpture work is achieved through the use of terracotta clay then applying many layers of acrylic paint using a sponge.
I like my lead or charcoal work with nudes to look real. One thing however, is you may notice that I don't feature much portraiture. I am capable of drawing peoples faces, and do so in commission works, but when it comes to creating something I'm doing for me, then I don't like personalising what I'm trying to achieve with a face.
